It’s getting close to that time of year again for the annual 10 for Texas multi-distance run event in The Woodlands, Texas! While the 10-mile course is the headline event, the race attracts hundreds of enthusiastic runners and community members for a high-energy morning in Montgomery County.
Enjoyed by many year after year, this is a premier recurring public service opportunity for our amateur radio community. Beyond giving back, events like 10 for Texas provide great visibility for ham radio, offering us a real-world operating environment to dust off idle equipment, brush up on tactical communications skills, test field gear, and provide an invaluable service to The Woodlands Township organizers.

Pre-Event Gathering & Breakfast
As is our tradition, we like to meet up for a casual pre-event gathering beforehand at a local eatery for t-shirt distribution, coffee, and camaraderie. Please note that while we are gathering there together, food and drink are not provided—each attendee has the option to purchase breakfast or refreshments of their choice directly from the eatery. It provides a relaxed, friendly environment to meet fellow operators, greet newcomers, and get briefed before heading out to your assigned station.
Equipment & Station Logistics
Most people will bring nothing but their HT. Operators who bring a mobile rig in their vehicle or set up an external antenna are also welcome. Because battery stamina is crucial, having spare charged battery packs or an external DC power source is recommended.
Course maps and station assignment information will be provided prior to the event so you will know exactly where you will be stationed and what tactical traffic to expect.

Whether you are a seasoned public service veteran or a newer operator looking to get your feet wet with tactical net operations, your participation is welcomed and greatly appreciated!
