DESCRIPTION:It’s getting close to that time of year again for the annual 10 for Texas multi-distance run event in The Woodlands\, Texas! While the 10-mile course is the headline event\, the race attracts hundreds of enthusiastic runners and community members for a high-energy morning in Montgomery County. \nEnjoyed by many year after year\, this is a premier recurring public service opportunity for our amateur radio community. Beyond giving back\, events like 10 for Texas provide great visibility for ham radio\, offering us a real-world operating environment to dust off idle equipment\, brush up on tactical communications skills\, test field gear\, and provide an invaluable service to The Woodlands Township organizers. \n\n📅 Event Key Details\n\nDate: Saturday\, October 10\, 2026\nTarget On-Station Time: 7:00 AM\nEstimated Wrap-Up: Concluding by ~11:00 AM (with progressive release along the course as runners clear)\nLocation: The Woodlands\, TX\nEvent Coordinator: Peter\, KE5STL\n\n\nPre-Event Gathering & Breakfast\nAs is our tradition\, we like to host a casual pre-event gathering beforehand at a local eatery for t-shirt distribution\, breakfast\, coffee\, and camaraderie. It provides a relaxed\, friendly environment to meet fellow operators\, greet newcomers\, and get briefed before heading out to your assigned station. \nEquipment & Station Logistics\nMost positions along the route can be comfortably handled with a handheld radio (HT). Operators who bring a mobile rig in their vehicle or set up an external antenna are also welcome.
